Nexus Expands Chicago Office to Support Continued Engineering Growth

This article was originally posted on Whitepapers and Case Studies: Zweig List.
Summary
Nexus Engineering Group is expanding its Chicago-area office in Oak Brook to support rapid regional growth. Opened in 2023 with three staff, the team has grown to 16 employees with revenue up over 500%. The operation will move across the street to a 10,000-sq-ft Parkview Plaza space with 47 seats, chosen for amenities, access, and scalability, enabling continued hiring. The office now serves clients beyond utilities, including refining, chemicals, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals, working closely with Nexus’s Cleveland HQ and other regional offices to deliver full-service engineering across the Midwest.

Which sectors do you think will drive the next wave of engineering demand in the Chicago/Midwest region?

Expanded Oak Brook Terrace office reflects rapid team growth and increasing client demand across the Midwest

Cleveland, OH – Nexus Engineering Group, an engineering services firm, is pleased to announce plans to expand its Chicago-area office. The expanded space supports the company’s rapid growth in the region and positions Nexus to better serve its growing Midwest client base as one of the emerging engineering firms in Chicago.

Originally established in 2023 to support key utility clients, the Chicago office has quickly evolved into a critical hub for Nexus operations. Since opening with just three team members, the office has grown to 16 full-time employees, with revenue increasing by more than 500% during that time.

The newly expanded office will be located at Parkview Plaza, just across the street from the current office location, and will include 47 seats across 10,000 square feet—providing the capacity needed to support continued team growth and project demand, including new opportunities for engineering jobs in Chicago.

“We chose to stay in this area because it is near where our current staff live, offers excellent highway access, and provides convenient amenities,” said Joe Arman, Senior Project Manager & Office Manager at the Oak Brook Office. “When evaluating building options, Parkview Plaza stood out for its on-site amenities, including a health club, adjacent green space, and ample covered parking, as well as its ability to support our long?term growth.”

The decision to relocate was also driven by long-term scalability and economic  considerations. The new space provides greater flexibility to accommodate future  engineering job growth and expand access to engineering jobs in Chicago.

Since its opening, the Chicago team has expanded its impact beyond utilities to support a diverse range of clients and projects, including:

  • Midwest refining and chemical processing facilities
  • New and existing clients in the food & beverage and pharmaceutical manufacturing
    space

The Chicago office continues to work closely with Nexus headquarters in Cleveland and other regional offices to deliver full-service engineering, project management, and execution support, further strengthening its presence among engineering firms in Chicago.

Strategically located in Oak Brook, the Parkview Plaza office provides convenient access to key client sites throughout the Chicago metro area and broader Midwest region, supporting faster response times and stronger collaboration.

“This expansion reflects the strength of the team we’ve built in Chicago and the momentum in the region,” said Jeff Herzog, Nexus President & Co-Founder. “What started as a targeted effort to support a specific client has quickly grown into a fully integrated operation supporting multiple industries and clients across our business.”

Nexus plans to continue to support engineering job growth, with additional hiring planned to support increasing demand in the utilities, industrial, and manufacturing sectors and create more opportunities for engineering jobs in Chicago.

How is the Oak Brook team handling rapid field support for Midwest plants? Our choke point is getting accurate scans and as-builts fast enough to keep MOC packages and PSSR on schedule. Are you standardizing on specific tools for field capture and P&ID updates, and do you offer embedded engineers during turnarounds with a 24-48 hour mobilization SLA?
