Major carbon-utilization facility opens in Australia

This article was originally posted on Chemical Engineering Online.
Summary
Orica has opened a world-leading carbon-utilization facility next to its Kooragang Island site in Australia, developed by MCi Carbon with Orica’s support. The project is positioned as a major step toward decarbonizing heavy industry and expands Orica’s low‑carbon industrial ecosystem by advancing carbon-utilization technologies.

What outcomes or metrics (e.g., CO2 abated, product market uptake, energy intensity) would you most want to see to gauge the real impact of this facility on heavy-industry decarbonization?

Orica Ltd. (Vitcoria, Australia) announced the opening of a world-leading carbon utilization facility adjacent to its Kooragang Island site, developed by MCi Carbon with Orica support. The facility marks a major milestone in the development of technologies to decarbonize heavy industry and is another initiative within Orica’s global low-carbon industrial ecosystem, supporting new technologies and […]

Curious about the hard numbers: net tCO2e abated per tCO2 fed (after power and reagents) and what percent of Kooragang’s CO2 stream you can treat. And from a maintenance view, how are you handling abrasive carbonate slurries, pump metallurgy, filtration choice, and dust control to keep uptime above 90%?
