Rockwell Automation and the Center for Automotive Research have released a new white paper outlining the next phase of smart manufacturing in automotive. It highlights where AI and automation are delivering measurable gains in uptime, quality, and overall production performance, and provides guidance for OEMs and suppliers on scaling successful use cases, integrating IT/OT systems, and building a data-driven operations strategy.
What’s the single most impactful AI or automation use case you’ve seen improve uptime or quality on the plant floor, and what made it scalable?
Highlights where AI and automation are delivering measurable gains in uptime, quality and production performance across automotive manufacturing
Which assets drove most of the uptime lift (weld guns, robot reducers, conveyors?) and how did you validate the AI predictions against real failure modes instead of nuisance alarms. In our shop, models didn’t help until we tied features to physics (gearbox sideband growth, spot-weld nugget proxies) and put a plan in place for sensor drift and label quality.
