Tecnicas Reunidas achieves breakthrough in rare-earth production

This article was originally posted on Chemical Engineering Online.
Summary
Técnicas Reunidas (Madrid) has produced its first kilograms of neodymium/praseodymium (Nd/Pr) oxide at commercial purity and specs—a significant step in rare-earth processing. Because Nd/Pr oxide is a key input for high-performance permanent magnets used in EV motors and other advanced equipment, this milestone points to progress toward expanding supply for strategic technologies.

What impacts could this achievement have on rare-earth supply chains, pricing, and the pace of magnet manufacturing over the next few years?

Técnicas Reunidas S.A. (TR; Madrid, Spain) has successfully produced its first kilograms of neodymium/praseodymium (Nd/Pr) oxide meeting commercial purity and specifications, thus marking a significant technological advance in the strategic rare earths market. Nd/Pr oxide is a critical component in high demand for the manufacture of permanent magnets, which are essential components in electric vehicle […]

If this scales, it could ease costs and lead times for ECM fan arrays and VRF compressors that rely on NdFeB. Do they have partners for oxide-to-metal conversion and magnet sintering, and are they planning for Dy/Tb additions where high-temp performance is needed?
