Marc and Todd road-tripped to Dave Boyt’s Norwood sawmill in Neosho, documenting log-to-lumber and bringing home fresh mulberry and walnut. Announcements: the Mid‑Century Modern Table Guild course discount runs through Oct 23, new TWW/Guild streaming apps are coming (Roku first), and every show ends with a Guild course giveaway. Gear pick: a 12‑gauge, 20A magnetic power strip for shops with 20A circuits. “Marc vs Marc” on edge profiles: default to small roundovers, occasional chamfers, skip ogees. Q&A highlights: sharpening hollow‑chisel mortisers; when to check moisture; move big tools rather than sell; plan drawer fronts first; SketchUp Free vs Pro; routing solid surface with templates/carbide; taming resaw wander via feed, tension, and guides; router table-in-wing if space is tight; choose 3HP over 1.75HP; no truly quiet benchtop planers (helical helps). Teasers: a corded Kreg Edge seems imminent, and Marc’s testing a bridge between twin table saws. Oreo co-hosted.
No tears this week, we promise. Marc and Todd took a road trip to a sawmill, a viewer broke the news of a corded Kreg Edge before Kreg did, Greg pitted 2017 Marc against 2026 Marc on edge profiles, and we worked through a big stack of your questions. Oreo co-hosted.
Our editor and videographer Todd came out to us for once, and he and Marc drove five hours (still in Missouri!) to Neosho to spend the day with Dave Boyt and his Norwood sawmill. They documented the whole process of turning logs into lumber, and Marc came home with fresh sawn mulberry, walnut and some walnut crotch that is now air drying in the shop. Thank you to Dave and his family for hosting us. Video coming.
A 12 gauge, 20 amp heavy duty power strip. Most household strips are 15 amp, and if your shop has 20 amp circuits, the extra headroom matters when a saw and a dust collector kick on together. Bonus: it has magnets on the back, so it sticks right to a machine.
Greg Batt dug up a 2017 clip of Marc on choosing edge profiles. Then and now, the answer is the same: a small round over almost everywhere, the occasional chamfer, and no ogees. 2017 Marc was just a little louder about it.
At the end of the show Marc gave a shaky cam look at the bridge between his two table saws. He is not yet sure he will like living with it, so the full video will come with an honest verdict.
Thanks to Greg Batt (@ghbatt) for Marc vs Marc, and to everyone who sent in questions. Send yours to twwmorningshow@gmail.com, or ask on Patreon or YouTube.
