EVOLOH to install commercial-scale hydrogen electrolyzer at 3M manufacturing site

This article was originally posted on Chemical Engineering Online.

EVOLOH Inc., a manufacturer of electrolyzer stacks for electrolytic hydrogen production,  announced a significant milestone in its commercialization: a commercial-scale pilot project agreement to deploy EVOLOH’s S440 packaged hydrogen system at a 3M manufacturing facility. The system, rated at 2.5 megawatts, will be operational in 2027 subject to obtaining any required regulatory approvals, and will […]

2.5 MW is roughly 40-50 kg/h of H2 and eight times that in O2; how are they handling O2 venting (stack height, enrichment alarms), H2 compression, and interlocks on crossover and low DI water resistivity? The bigger headache is utilities: ultra-pure water makeup, about 1 MW of heat to reject, and demand charges unless it load-follows the plant, so just interlock it to demand and cooling capacity.
