Langan named Ryan C. Linthicum as its next CEO, effective January 1, 2027, after a two-year succession process led by current CEO and Executive Chair David T. Gockel, who will remain Executive Chair. A 30-year Langan veteran and Managing Principal on the Executive Committee and Board, Linthicum leads the firm’s technology strategy (AI investment, service integration, and digital solutions), opened offices in Washington, DC; Arlington; and Richmond; and drove entry into the federal market, including work with the State Department’s OBO on nearly 200 U.S. embassies and consulates. He will be the firm’s third CEO. Langan has 2,500 employees across 60 U.S. offices and five international locations.

What impact do you expect Linthicum’s focus on AI and federal-sector growth to have on Langan’s strategy and services in the coming years?

David Gockel Remains Executive Chair

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, N.J. — Langan announced that Ryan C. Linthicum will become CEO of the firm effective January 1, 2027. The selection of the new CEO followed a two-year succession planning process led by David T. Gockel, current CEO and Executive Chair of the Langan Board of Managers.

“Ryan Linthicum has the full support of our executive team to lead Langan as we continue our journey as a national powerhouse and magnet for talent,” said Gockel, who will remain as Executive Chair.  “I have enormous respect for Ryan as a leader and as a person. He has the judgment, integrity, energy, and commitment to our employees that will guarantee Langan’s continued success.”

Linthicum has spent his entire 30-year career at Langan, beginning in the firm’s New Jersey headquarters as a staff engineer ascending to Managing Principal serving on the firm’s Executive Committee and Board of Managers.  He oversees Langan’s technology strategy where he oversees Langan’s artificial intelligence (AI) investment and service integration, as well as the firm’s nationwide digital solutions practice. Linthicum has opened three Langan offices: Washington, DC, Arlington, and Richmond, Virginia.  He led Langan’s entry into the Federal market, most notably with the State Department’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations, with Langan having supported the development or redevelopment design process of nearly 200 US embassies and consulates around the world. Linthicum has managed high-performing teams in virtually every market sector, including mixed-use, commercial, resort, cultural, sports, education, life sciences, and aviation.

“I am honored and excited to assume the responsibility of becoming the third CEO in Langan history,” said Linthicum. “I look forward to my new role and to working tirelessly with Dave, my partners, and Langan staff.  Under my leadership, we will continue to deliver premier consulting services to our clients on projects that define and enhance how we live and work, and that contribute to communities around the world.”
