World-scale citral/menthol units are great until a single unplanned outage ripples through the whole fragrance chain; what redundancy did BASF build in (spare hydrogen compressors, dual trains on crystallization, N2-blanketed citral storage with PTFE seals)? And how is Zhanjiang hardened for typhoons and salt-air corrosion compared to Ludwigshafen’s energy volatility, since both hit uptime in different ways?
