New (To Me) Design – Criss-Cross Table

This article was originally posted on The Wood Whisperer.
Summary
Summary: The Wood Whisperer introduces a new criss-cross table base design that eliminates two traditional aprons, testing its viability by building a full table (and companion bench). For detailed plans and step-by-step instruction, he points to a Guild course, and the post includes related tips, tool/material recommendations, and a discount code for a finishing product.

Question: What joinery or reinforcement would you use to ensure long-term stability in a criss-cross table base without two aprons?

The base of this large table features a criss-cross design that does away with two of the aprons you’d find in a typical table base. I honestly wasn’t sure if it would work and the only way to find out was to build one. If you really want to go in-depth into the design and execution of the Criss-Cross Table & Bench, you can pick up the course here.
